Venture Capital

Offering the opportunity to capitalise on a wave of science and technological disruption and the skills and innovation of our partners, including best-in-class universities.

Our approach

Our Venture Capital platform offers institutional investors access to aspiring businesses at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation. Our sourcing process involves partnering with other top VC managers and leading university investment platforms, allowing us to offer portfolio companies the capital they need to scale up.

Since 2016 we’ve aimed to find investment opportunities in both the UK and EU markets, seeking out companies that are looking to address today’s global challenges and solve real-world problems. Our team has an average of 20 years’ experience and deep expertise in our core sectors of healthcare, technology and within the university spinout ecosystem.

The university spinout market is an area of particular focus for the Venture Capital team, and a sector where we are seeing increasing appetite from our clients and partners to invest alongside us. L&G has deep relationships across this sector with £7.7bn* committed to date by L&G and partners.

*As at 30 June 2023, includes value of L&G direct debt and equity investments and aggregate commitments to be provided by partnerships with others.
