Building Future You
Small steps today. Stronger decades ahead.
Your future self is shaped by the decisions you make today.

More people are saving into a pension than ever before, yet millions still struggle to connect their savings today with the lifestyle they hope to enjoy tomorrow.
Building Future You is helping to change that through research, education and practical tools designed to improve pension engagement, adequacy and financial confidence.
The initiative forms part of Decades Ahead, L&G's long-term commitment to improving financial security across the UK.
Discover how we're helping clients and members build better financial futures.

Living for now or thinking ahead?
What do people’s habits and behaviours say about their financial futures? We believe a lot.
Our five-minute quiz helps a member discover their financial persona and how it could influence their retirement journey.

Can employers help unlock greater pension engagement?
We're putting that theory to the test by launching a workplace training pilot, with our own employees.
We’ll explore whether structured pension education modules can drive greater engagement than a voluntary approach.

How do we help people prepare for futures they cannot yet see?
More than 40% of working people aged 25 to 55 are not on track for the retirement income they'll need.
Our Building Financial Futures Across a Lifetime research explores why and highlights the challenge that Building Future You is seeking to address.
Building Future You in action
Building Future You is making its debut at the Pensions UK Annual Conference in Liverpool. Members of the public and conference delegates will be able to discover their financial persona in our pop-up quiz pod and explore the research behind the programme.
And who better to help people meet their future you than our special guest Troy Hawke! Troy will bring his trademark wit and curiosity to a programme designed to help stop people in their tracks and think differently about their financial future.
1 On behalf of L&G, Public First conducted a major survey of 8,008 working age adults (18-69) between 11th October 2025 and 21st October 2025. The results were weighted to be nationally representative. As part of the research, we modelled the adequacy of pension savings for different groups. To estimate wealth at the point of reaching the State Pension Age, we used the Wealth and Assets Survey, the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings and the Annual Population Survey.
Plan more effectively for the decades ahead
There is no single solution to improving retirement outcomes. It will take employers, providers, policymakers and individuals working together.

Decades Ahead is our long-term initiative to improve financial security across the UK. By combining research, policy engagement and practical solutions, it seeks to understand the causes of under-saving and drive meaningful change. Because, every improvement we make today has the potential to shape the decades ahead.
